Legal & Transparency Notice

Welcome to Sitestart! Below are all the important legal notes, disclaimers, and transparency details about how this project works.

For clarity, when we say “Sitestart”, “Sitestart Foundation”, or “sitestart.org”, we’re talking about the same project—this website and the free services it provides.

1. Privacy Policy

Sitestart respects your privacy. Here’s how we handle your information:

What We Collect:

  • Name, email, and project details if you fill out the signup form

  • Basic website analytics (like page visits)

How We Use It:

  • To contact you about your project

  • To improve this website and service

Do We Share Your Info? Nope! Except for necessary services that help me run this project (like email platforms, website hosting, or analytics tools), I don’t sell or share your data.

Cookies? Like most websites, we use cookies to track performance and understand how visitors use the site.

Your Rights: You can contact me anytime to ask what data I have about you or request deletion.

Questions? Email me at sitestartfoundation@gmail.com.

2. Terms of Use

By using this website and service, you agree to the following:

Free Services: Sitestart is a solo project offering free website setup and one design or redesign for individuals, small businesses, and nonprofits. There’s no fee, but I have limited time and can only work with a few projects at once.

Creative Freedom: By signing up, you’re allowing me creative control to build a site that fits your goals but also works within the tools and designs I offer.

Ownership and Handoff:

  • Once your website is handed off, you will fully own the design and website content.

  • Each project includes one free design or redesign (additional redesigns aren’t included in this service).

  • After handoff, you’re responsible for maintaining, updating, and managing the website on your own or with your chosen provider.

  • To respect the creative work and the free nature of this project, you agree to keep the design in place for at least one year after handoff. This means not reselling, stripping, or dramatically altering the design during that time. After a year, you’re free to make any changes.

Access to Hosting and Domain Providers: If you already have an existing website, hosting account, or domain registrar, you agree to provide me with temporary administrative access to those platforms so I can complete the migration or setup. This access will only be used for project-related tasks and will not be retained beyond the required period, unless continued access is needed for billing or hosting support under the Sitestart program.
If you’re unable or unwilling to grant access, I may not be able to proceed with your project.

Showcasing Work: By participating in Sitestart, you agree that:

  • I may feature your finished website in my portfolio, case studies, or creative showcase materials, including Moonlippy Studios' or Sitestart’s websites.

  • I may also post about your website launch or project on social media or promotional materials to highlight the work, unless you request otherwise before the launch.

  • If you prefer not to have your project publicly shared, just let me know in writing before your website goes live.

Forever Hosting: As part of the Sitestart project, your website will be hosted for free, indefinitely, on the platform of my choice.

  • Hosting may include technical platform costs, domain renewals, and billing setup under my accounts to keep things running smoothly.

  • After handoff, I will retain administrative access for billing and technical management purposes to ensure hosting stays active.

  • If you ever decide to migrate your website to a different platform or host, you’re welcome to do that at any time after the one-year design window.

No Guarantees: I’ll do my best to help, but since this is a volunteer project, I can’t promise availability, specific timelines, or indefinite support.

Use of Tools: Sitestart is supported by Moonlippy Studios, which donates time, tools, and resources to make this project possible. However, Sitestart services are provided independently as a free offering, with no upsells, cross-selling, or obligations to engage Moonlippy Studios for any paid services.

Right to Refuse or Pause Service: I reserve the right to decline projects or pause services if life gets too busy.

3. Disclaimer

Sitestart is a passion project, not a business service. This means:

  • I cannot guarantee continuous support or site maintenance.

  • If I run out of time, funds, or capacity, services may pause or stop.

  • No legal or professional warranties are provided.

This is a “best effort” personal initiative—not a contractual service.

4. Transparency & Donations

Sitestart is free to use. Donations are optional and help cover:

  • Hosting fees

  • Domain renewals

  • Operational costs to keep the project alive

Where does the money go? 100% of donations support project expenses—no personal profit here.

What happens if funds run out? If I can no longer cover costs, I’ll notify everyone involved.

Volunteering

From time to time, volunteers may offer to help with Sitestart projects. That’s always appreciated!

By volunteering your time or skills, you agree and acknowledge that:

  • Your participation is completely voluntary

  • There is no employee-employer relationship

  • You are not entitled to compensation, benefits, or employment protections

  • I reserve the right to accept or decline volunteer help at any time, for any reason

Sitestart is a small, independent project. Volunteer help is welcome, but offered at your own discretion, and without any legal obligations on either side.

5. Limitation of Liability

By using Sitestart, you agree that:

  • You won’t hold me (personally or professionally) responsible for any issues that may happen as a result of using this service, including but not limited to:

    • Website errors or outages

    • Data loss

    • Missed deadlines

    • Content problems

    • Any other unexpected issues

Basically: I’m doing this to help—but I’m just one person, and this is a free, volunteer-run service. No lawsuits, no hard feelings, okay?
